Search Your Workspace
Search helps you find relevant content across the selected workspace. It is useful before asking the AI to draft, edit, or summarize.
When To Use Search
Use search when you need to:
- find every mention of a term, clause, requirement, person, product, or decision
- locate a source file before asking a question
- compare related documents
- check whether a draft is supported by source material
- find files affected by a proposed change
Search Modes
Document.Bot can use different search approaches depending on the app version and indexing state:
- file and text search for exact words and phrases
- semantic search for related meaning
- grouped or ranked results to help you inspect likely sources
If indexing is still running, results may be incomplete until more files finish indexing.
Good Search Prompts
Use exact terms when you know them:
Search for the exact phrase "data retention" and show every matching source.
Use broader wording when you do not know the exact phrase:
Find documents that discuss customer data deletion, retention periods, or audit logs.
Ask for grouping when many results are expected:
Find all files related to vendor risk and group the results by document type.
Search Is Not Final Review
Search helps you find likely evidence. Before making a decision, open the original files and inspect the source context.
